BRIANNE & CHRIS'S WEDDING CELEBRATION!

                                                A NEW YEARS WEDDING CELEBRATION!

I was so happy when Brianne and Chris asked me to be their photographer for their Wedding! I first met the couple at our consultation, at Starbucks, and from that moment I knew this was going to be quite a celebration!

Everyone wants images that shows their personalities, and with this Wedding, I think we got that!
Brianne and Chris are a very relaxed down to earth couple. They love hanging out with their Family and friends. They enjoy being out at the lake, and I guess you could say they love snow machines, or at least Chris does, and I am sure Brianne will too! I felt at ease with this couple, they were themselves, and it was effortless.

The reception room was filled with Christmas trees, beautiful wreaths, the flicker of a fireplace and even stockings hung from the mantle. That was just the start, now add their personal touches from the stunning centerpieces to the chairs wrapped up in elegant bows. Their cupcake tower was a masterpiece, keeping with their colour scheme of classic red and black. Their tables sparkled with crystal gems scattered perfectly around the place settings. This room, overlooked a frosty skating rink, which was surrounded by lit up candy cane walkways. This really made for some beautiful  pictures. Who wouldn't want a winter wedding?

Their ceremony was simple, and traditional. With Brianne's Dad walking her down the isle, I don't recall a dry eye in the place. Their exchanging of the rings, gave me a great opportunity to catch some real emotional moments.

Lets talk about this gown... Brianne's gown how should I put it? It was simply gorgeous! I like that her maid of honour and bridesmaids all wore different styles of dresses in black. The Groom and his groomsmen looked fantastic as well!

Outside portraits in the winter? You got it!
I think we hit -32 with the windchill, and well that didn't stop them! We headed out in into the crisp lakefront for some truly memorable pictures. With the bride in lead, we headed outside. The bride had a blanket wrapped around her, and her snow machine boots on, to keep her warm. Brianne had a strapless gown, and her brides maids and maid of honour had on tiny little dresses, these girls were really tough! I have always said, never mess with a Canadian girl, especially one from Manitoba!
To sum up my opinion of this wonderful day was, it felt like an extended version of a Holiday that we all love! The feeling was a joyful one!

Brianne and Chris, I wish you joy and good health, as you travel through life together!
Support one another, however, whenever, forever...
It was a pleasure being your photographer.

Best wishes,
Candice

LET'S GET READY FOR WEDDING SEASON 2011!

As a Wedding photographer, I  try to stay on top of what the trends of the season are.
For the next few months, I will be posting styles for spring, summer, fall, and winter Weddings for this year.
I have to say that I am really not to hung up on the whole" trend idea", I think you should put your own twist and mark on such a special day! I love walking into a reception room, to find it filled with personal style, and you know the Bride and Groom had everything to do with it!
I have such a great job, I get to see many different styles of Weddings, and they are all so unique!

Ok, lets talk about one of the first things a bride decides upon.....the colour's.
I have done some research and here is a list of colour schemes that is in for 2011:
- lavendar and mint
- black, white and yellow
- black, white and green
- pink, green and orange

So another important topic is how you should style your hair for this big day?
Again here is a short and sweet list of ideas:
- soft brushed curls for a spring Wedding.
- loose messy updo's for a summer or beach Wedding.
- My favorite for this year!- straight meets curly!!!
How? Simply part your hair to one side, smooth the top, pin the parted side with a vintage rhinestone hairpin, or a fresh flower, then have soft almost wavy like curls all around. This is for any length of hair, and try to avoid the curls that look too much like a curling iron did it, keep it soft and flowing.

Cakes, cakes and more cakes!!!
Yum Yum!
Forget about the fondant cakes!!!
Buttercream all the way!
You can critique about the look of buttercream, but who can deny the taste of lovely sweet buttercream, to a plastic looking fondant. With a really good baker, they can smooth it all out to a perfect look.
Your guests will thank you for it!
Top 5 flavours:
Red velvet! soooo yummy!
chocolate hazlenut
vannila bean
almond
lemon chiffon

Another great idea, forget about tons of flowers on it, instead keep it simple, with only a couple. looks great in pictures!
This is my favorite idea for Wedding cakes, avoid the high price of a huge tall cake, instead hunt for a pretty ornate vintage or antique cake stand, and have your cake placed on it. This will give your cake the height, and tons of flair!

Bridesmaid dresses?
It's all about delicate elegance this year!
Short, medium, long lengths, as long is the coulour is there!
Frilly, simple, flowing, girly, is the trend for 2011.

I am posting a couple of older pictures from last summer. I did a Wedding in the fall, and the couple really went above and beyond as far as adding their own personal touches. I loved everything about their Wedding, down to the little table with an old typewritter on it, where the guests could type a message to the new couple.
They also had one of their friends Mom make their cake, and it was so pretty and festive. Their table settings were very simple, their centerpieces were just mason jars filled with birdseed and a candle, wrapped with a little ribbon, and it looked beautiful. I really like the added touch of their pictures in a comical manner attached to their cookies as well. I commented to the Bride, how much I loved her jars filled with assorted mixes of grass, and she just replied, oh I just went to the field and picked them today. I LOVE THAT! She didn't bother going to a flower shop, she did it herslf the day of her Wedding. It is little things like that! They went on a trip sometime prior to their Wedding day, and collected rocks for each guest on their place card.
Besides their Wedding cake, they also had a dessert table filled with decadent desserts. This was a nice touch for their guests to really feel special. To sum it all up, they had a country Wedding in a tent, with paper lanterns, and everything natural, good wine, great food, and most importantly you knew you were at their Wedding!

I will be posting pics. from the New Years Wedding I am still working on, you have to stay tuned for that, it's gonna be good!
STAY TUNED....

Stay well,
Candice
